About The Beer
Juan Moore came about as a request from the Lac La Belle Golf Course. They had a Mexican Lager from another brewery, but that brewery went under. They asked us if we could make a Mexican Lager for them.
As with every beer, a lot of research takes place about the style of beer, what ingredients are traditionally in the beer, and also what new ingredients could we use to impart a unique flavor into the beer.
This is where the Motueka hops come into play. These hops impart a lime characteristic which we see with the mass produced Mexican imported beers (lime in the bottle). So we used hops to create that flavor. As a result, adding a lime enhances the flavor of the beer.
How about the name? Well, sometimes we have the name for a beer before it's brewed, sometimes we don't. This beer started out without a name. This then requires a "brain-storming" session where we drink the beer and throw ideas out. Someone asked if I wanted "one more?" To which I said, "Did you mean 'Juan Moore' for the name or are you asking me if I want another?" Thus the name was born. It now is the ultimate question when someone says the will have "Juan Moore" (or was that one more)?
